Phil Coba

Hello Bobcats, My name is Phil Coba, I am a first generation Argentinian American student running for ASUCM Senate At Large. Within my two and a half years involved in ASUCM I have served as UC Merced’s Lobby Corp Director and was recently voted the vice chair for USSA’s Multi-Biracial Caucus. As Lobby Corp Director I have lobbied on behalf of UC students to increase diversity on campuses, to award financial aid to undocumented students, to help put a stop to sexual assault on campuses, and to increase funding for the UC. If elected I plan to use the experience I have gained lobbying for students at the district, state, and federal levels to advocate for students on the UC Merced campus level. I plan to work one-on-one with clubs and organizations to ensure they represent UC Merced fittingly while away at conferences. I also want to debrief with clubs and organizations upon their return from such conferences to make sure that their knowledge and experiences are reinvested into UC Merced and hopefully into the Central Valley as a whole. UC Merced is the only UC in the Central Valley and the only UC for a hundred miles in any which direction (over 200 miles south). I feel as though our clubs and organizations could really make an impact and shape some of the issues in the Central Valley.

Please support me by voting Phil Coba for Senator at large.
