Katelyn Fitzgerald
Running for Director of Student Advocacy
Hi, I'm Katelyn Fitzgerald and I am running for the position of Director of Student Advocacy. I am currently an ASUCM Senator, Chair of the Academic Affairs committee, sit as the Undergraduate Representative on the CARE program Advisory Board, and a member of a UC wide Student Task Force working on the prevention of sexual assault and violence. This past year as a Senator, I was able to help ASUCM collaborate with HEROES, CARE, CAPS, Judicial Affairs, Department of Public Safety, OMBUDS, and a member of Janet Napolitano’s office through a Town Hall event informing students about the “It's on Us” campaign and the resources UC Merced offers students to help create a safe campus environment. As Director of Student Advocacy, I will work with the other branches of ASUCM to help host events that would give students the opportunity to come and meet their representatives, address their concerns about the campus, and learn how their student government functions. I will continue to work with the programs on campus that are grant-funded, by hosting more events to show that ASUCM supports the work they are doing and cares about the safety of students on our campus.
