Louie Castillo

Running for Senator at Large

Fellow Bobcats,

Attending my first year at UC Merced has showed me that this university faces an important time. With my involvement in the Young Democrats and Amnesty International, I’ve seen firsthand that we-- as a student body-- are still undergoing the process of creating a campus culture that aims to empower students. This school holds incredible potential for positive change in the Central Valley and even the entire state of California, and if I am elected to the ASUCM Senate At-Large, my top priorities will be centered on helping to make this campus more politically active and intellectually diverse.

My goal is to work closely with student organizations and faculty to create events on campus that will ignite important intellectual conversations that need to be discussed in the academic setting. At the same time, I look forward to collaborating with other student groups who aim to reach out to potential future Bobcats and enact positive change through innovative ideas and inventions.

Like most students at UCM, I came here to take on a unique role of shaping this growing campus. I ask for your vote so we can continue to create an academic environment that we can all engage in.
